Sophie's TV World

I was half typing and half watching TV with the weird language with subtitles (actually, Norwegian) when it dawned on me that it's Sophie's World! Goosebumps time, like the book going into my TV and producing live characters and with Knox the correspondent reporting the proceedings of the Socrates trial for her! Sublime stuff... Here's Socrates drinking some poison hemlock in prison after being sentenced to death, and saying it's not difficult to avoid death, but "it is much more difficult to avoid wickedness, for it runs faster than death" (Apology 40, from here). It's too bad the this is the first of four episodes, and I won't be around to watch it next week...oh shucks... Up next on SBS at ten, Diary of A Teenage Nudist...

huh? i thought sophie's world was a book? when was it made into a tv series/programme? hah, interesting. i heard socrates was very ugly, and that was one of the reasons why nietzsche disliked him so much. hehe. eck, reading the book would be a lot better than watching the tv show.

Yeah, it was made into a TV series, which was why at first I couldn't believe it and thought that somehow the book had gone into the TV (or that I had gone into her world with Knox reporting to me! lol) Actually the show is quite fantastic, there's 3 musketeers, red riding hood, morphing of Athens into ancient form etc...it's wonderful!

Well, I think Nietz is ugly and I dislike him because I can't even pronounce his name right! What kind of ad hominem argument is that?! hahaa

hahaha, i didn't know there were varying degrees to ad hominem. :)

well, nietzsche is the philosopher who said "god is dead", so as christians, we ought not to like him. still, i feel that he sums out our present-day culture very well. he's a very compelling writer, and he's one of my favourite philosophers, which..isn't really good for my faith. egads. =\

I have the movie of "Sophie's World" as avi files, I am looking for the English subtitle. I see on the screen shots you have, they have the English subtitles, is there a way to get it...?

Thanks,

Hi, I don't really know how to get the subtitles. From what I can tell, the subtitles were provided by the TV station (Australia's SBS)...

-methegirl3, I'm sorry but you're an idiot. "so as christians, we ought not to like him" is probably the most arrogant nonsense I've heard in a long time.

Do humanity a favor and open your mind to the real world!
